26/02/02 - Who killed Dean?
Evening Echo
Detectives investigating the gangland-style murder of a Basildon man have renewed their appeal for information on the first anniversary of his death.
The body of 24-year-old Dean Boshell was found on allotments in Manchester Drive, Leigh, last February, with a single gunshot wound to the back of his head.
He had been released from prison just a few months earlier after serving a short sentence for a string of commercial burglaries.
Police are still confident of finding his killer and believe a member of the public may hold vital clues.
A spokesman said: "The killing had all the hallmarks of a gangland-style assassination which has made the police investigation extremely difficult.
"This case is by no means closed and detectives are still keen to hear from anyone who might have the slightest piece of information which might assist them and provide some answers to Dean's family."
A 20-year-old Southend man was arrested shortly after the killing but released without charge.
