10/12/07 - MESSSAGE FOR DETECTIVE SERGEANT JASON WEALD

I think you should be aware of Graham BALL’s track record. When the net of Operation Volunteer was closing in around Detective Sergeant John Moran and Graham BALL, Mr BALL set up Detective Inspector Clifford Haynes as a diversionary tactic to take the spotlight off himself. Haynes was thrown to the wolves, as I expect you will be before long for your part in the corrupt investigation into Lee Balkwell’s death.

For example, what about your contrived interview with Simon Bromley, where you let him get away with his cock-and-ball story of how my son was supposed to have died in a concrete mixer he was allegedly working on in the dark at 1.00 in the morning?

Then there’s your lies to me and my brother concerning the drug-testing of Simon Bromley, and your lies concerning the availability of the CCTV, when I met with you at Grays Police Station. For example, your story: ‘You can’t see the CCTV today as the librarian has gone home’, said to me at 2.30pm) Later, when enquiries were mad, the librarian said: “I didn’t leave until about 4.00om. At that stage, you obviously did not want me and my brother to view that videotape - deceit by you. I expect you were also involved in trying to pass me off, originally, with a corruptly edited version of the CCTV found at the Bromleys. It’s a good job I could spot Essex Police’s crude attempts to edit out the inconvenient parts of a 7-hour recording - those bits they never wanted me to see.

There is still time for you to tell the truth to your current commander or your superior officer about why you failed to interview Simon Bromley for 20 days, why you led him shamelessly right through the interview, and why you gave him such an easy ride - when Detective Superintendent Simon Coxall admitted to me and my daughter in 2005 that David Bromley and Simon Bromley had always been the chief suspects in the case. I wonder why you didn’t treat him as a suspect. Perhaps you were ‘leaned on’ by your corrupt superior, Detective Superintendent Graham BALL?
