A 31-year-old man has been charged with murdering an Essex man in 2001. The body of Dean Boshell, 24, was found on an allotment in Manchester Drive, Leigh-on-Sea on 28 February.

He died from a gunshot wound to the head. Damon Alvin, of Benfleet, Essex, is also charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, police said. Ricky Percival, 25, Kevin Walsh, 32, and Katy Griffiths, 23, all from Leigh-On-Sea, are charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

All four are due before Harlow Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
